1st trimester

A positive antibody screen itself does not cause an emergency symptom, but do not miss the follow-up laboratory or maternal-fetal medicine plan. If you are RhD-negative, contact your obstetric team promptly after vaginal bleeding, abdominal trauma, amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling, or another potentially sensitizing event because Rh immune globulin timing may matter when you are not already sensitized. Heavy bleeding, severe abdominal pain, fainting, or reduced fetal movement needs urgent assessment. If you are ever unsure which side of the line you are on, make the call.
