Does Lovenox cross the placenta the way warfarin does?

Do normal birth-defect rates in the Lovenox label prove it is risk-free?

Can I switch between warfarin and Lovenox on my own?

No. A gap, overlap, or incorrect dose can cause a dangerous clot or bleeding. Contact the prescribing team urgently if pregnancy is possible or confirmed, and follow its exact transition schedule.

Can Lovenox or warfarin be used while breastfeeding?

The ASH pregnancy guideline lists low-molecular-weight heparin and warfarin among anticoagulants considered compatible with breastfeeding. Postpartum drug choice still depends on bleeding, clot indication, monitoring, and the delivery course.

How do Lovenox and warfarin affect epidural timing?

Neuraxial anesthesia requires a drug-specific interval after the last anticoagulant dose. The correct interval depends on dose intensity, kidney function, laboratory results, and hospital protocol, so the anesthesia and obstetric teams need an advance plan.
